Firstly, about me.
After many years as an antique dealer, I took a break to persue other ventures.
Seven years ago I returned to my love of furniture, combining it with my love of bright colours and patterns! I know this isn't to everyone's taste, so I do try really hard to paint grey things too! I absolutely love redesigning and restoring discarded and unloved furniture and am thrilled when other people love and buy my pieces!
The furniture
I choose to work with pieces of furniture that are useful in every home. Little side tables, dining chairs, bedside cabinets, dining tables, chest of drawers, lamp stands... these are all the backbone of my stock. I've got a soft spot for display cabinets too! Being vintage, these pieces might have the odd knock or signs of use, but I always choose sturdy pieces in good condition.
My process
Before I begin to paint I clean each piece thoroughly. I sand it then prime it. I apply two coats (at least) of chalk paint, then finish each piece with either wax or top quality sealant. I love choosing paper to compliment the colour I've decided to paint the piece. Once I've decided which colour/design to use I can’t wait to see the end result!
